This walk and these photos were taken on New Year's Day -- by my standards, a cold day on the Riverwalk. (Weather.com says that the high was 50 degrees.) I took a new route today -- walked up Broadway to 12th Street, then west one block to the Riverwalk at Eagle and Phenix, and the Powerhouse. This route provides a really picturesque approach:
If you get to this point and can't figure out how to get down to the Riverwalk, just walk underneath the water tank.I love this view.
The water's still high, the fishing wells flooded. That ladder-like thing has moved all around the Powerhouse area over the past few days. It's not a ladder but is some sort of architectural 'bracing,' or something.
Near the CSU Art Complex, indication that maybe repair work on the lightpoles might be about to begin:
Just a couple of remainderings:
Somebody lost they little tiny pom-pom:
I'm interested in the discoloration on the railroad trestle near the Ironworks:
And Jake, when he was with me a few days ago, got me interested in the discoloration on the walkway directly underneath the trestle. He speculated that maybe the discoloration was due to oil from the trains passing by overhead. Could be, but later I speculated that the discoloration might come from the rain's passing through the creosoted-coated wood of the trestle.
The pampas grass near the old City Wharf got a New Year's haircut!
